FUJIFILM Business Innovation presents PrintLab Classroom

We’re here to support you as you encourage your students to become tomorrow’s creative problem-solvers. With our lesson plans, your students can be armed and ready to face a world of work where expertise in technologies like 3D printing is both expected and embedded.

Solving the time dilemma

As an educator, you understand the value of encouraging design thinking, and you have the opportunity to integrate 3D printing skills into your STEM, art, maths, design or humanities subject. But time is an issue when you need a full, resourced lesson plan that’s aligned to Australian Curriculum and suits the age and experience of your students. And preferably, you need a lesson that’s challenging and is sure to generate enthusiasm (otherwise known as the ‘that’s pretty cool’) factor.

That’s why FUJIFILM Business Innovation Australia teamed up with PrintLab to give you access a large suite of lesson plans, when you purchase an Ultimaker 3D printer, so you don’t have to waste time trawling through mountains of options and offers on the internet.

Depending on your school’s subscription choice, PrintLab’s online toolkit allows teachers to choose from 40+ projects to customise for your class. Every project contains detailed downloadable teaching materials, including:

  • introductory presentations
  • examples with links to explainer video content
  • 3D design tutorials
  • comprehensive workbooks
  • assessment rubrics
  • links to user experiences, helpful hints and tips from other teachers.
Plus, there’s new content added regularly – so you’ll never run out of ideas

Teacher Training and Certification

Become a PrintLab Certified Educator. The PrintLab certification course for teachers comprises a 5-hour online program that equips teachers to use all PrintLab material, including how to customise and teach a lesson plan for the age and experience of the students.

It’s the perfect journey for those just getting started with 3D printing, and offers plenty of new tips for intermediate and advanced users. The teacher training aims to give you proficiency in teaching using 3D printing, with 3D design and printing skills.

3D Printing Guide for Teachers

This free resource is a comprehensive, step by step guide to classroom teaching using 3D printing as a design tool. The Guide introduces foundational 3D printing skills, including:

  • Getting maximum value from a 3D printer for a wide range of teaching applications.
  • Obtaining 3D printable files using CAD software, and scanning applications.
  • Preparing files for 3D printing.
  • Integrating 3D printing into the classroom

  • Let students handle 3D printers.
  • Learn alongside your students – work together to solve problems, and keep lessons open-ended.
  • Don’t isolate 3D printing – integrate it with core topics. When your students encounter 3D printing in the workplace one day, it will always be a part of design flow and manufacture, alongside CNC machining, laser cutting and 3D scanning.
  • Be flexible and open to change – try new techniques, keep an open mind.
