CLIENT
“Think + Print” has been the core value at Fingerprint. This philosophy motivates the 30-year-old printing company to be “transformed by the renewing minds” by exploring the latest technologies to produce vivid images. From printing student yearbooks and comic books to producing corporate marketing materials like outdoor banners and restaurant menus, Fingerprint takes every single order as its own project to help customers realize their visions with vibrant colors.
CHALLENGE
While the sky is the limit for artists to design all shades of color and texture digitally, their creative space is often restricted by printing materials and technologies when producing a printed version of their art pieces. “We work closely with the creative community, but it is discouraging when artists have to alter their digital designs because of the limitation in traditional printing technology,” said William Ho, Director of Fingerprint. The traditional offset printing requires heavy manual processes for trial-and-error, to develop the perfect mix of toner that reflects the accurate colors on the type of paper that the artists designed. William said the cost and timing required to produce the perfect print often force artists to alter their designs.
On the other hand, mass printing is not ideal for delivering targeted marketing messages for businesses. Marketing professionals are seeking personalization in all channels of communication, both online and offline. They are also requiring short delivery times, driving Fingerprint to produce faster and operate more efficiently. “Personalization is key in marketing,” said William. “We are constantly working with marketers to explore unique customer experiences with an efficient production timeline.”
SOLUTION
The pursuit of vibrant colors for artists and personalization for marketers have led Fingerprint to turn to FUJIFILM Business Innovation Hong Kong (FUJIFILM BI HK) for the latest printing technologies.
“We’ve worked with FUJIFILM BI HK for many years, and the latest Revoria PressTM PC1120 is truly revolutionary in color presentation,” said William. “It allows us to easily print remarkable colors with precision, realizing the artists’ design like never before.” The industry-first 6-color print engine of Revoria PressTM PC1120 provides additional specialty toner stations on top of the traditional CMYK toners. William said these specialty toners, particularly the Neon Pink toner, are producing brilliant ranges of colors.
“I was amazed to find out the Neon Pink toner produces more than multiple shades of pink,” he said. “By mixing the Neon Pink toner with different colors, it produces a much brighter and radiant color, like bright orange, that was previously impossible with digital printing.” He added the colors are also presented accurately across a wide range of materials, including textured papers, fabrics, and plastics, just like they appear on the digital displays.
Revoria PressTM PC1120 also supports Fingerprint with different digital printing features like personalized printing, with specific names and numbers assigned to each single print. As a digital production press, Revoria PressTM PC1120 can also be connected to Enfocus Switch, a workflow management application. It automatically verifies the information of each print job order and assigns a printing schedule, allowing Fingerprint to effectively manage numerous orders each day.
Every second counts at a busy print house like Fingerprint. On top of adopting the high-performing Revoria PressTM PC1120, Fingerprint relies on its long-term partner FUJIFILM BI HK’s ServicePRO for professional and maintenance services to keep its production presses functioning at optimum performance. “The knowledgeable technicians are very helpful. They offer advice to fully utilize different unique features, allowing us to produce high-quality prints and maintaining the production presses to prevent wear and tear,” said William. When the production presses do need technical support, William said the ServicePRO’s responsive remote and on-site support enables the team peace of mind to operate the print house day and night like a well-oiled engine.
RESULT
The experience of realizing the artists’ vision into tangible art has brought Fingerprint recognition in both the printing industry and the creative community. The company was recognized with multiple awards, including the Innovation Print Awards (IPA). This annual competition acknowledges the outstanding and innovative printing companies across Australia, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. As a winner in the Use of Specialty Color category in 2021 and 2023 and the Leaflet and Office Products categories in 2022, Fingerprint demonstrates its success with flying colors.
Nevertheless, William never forgets the mission at Fingerprint. The company continues to support the creative communities, connecting illustrators with publishers at different design expos and creative fairs. William said they also hire summer interns regularly to engage with renewing minds and refreshing ideas to produce vivid prints.
With the support of FUJIFILM BI HK, William said Fingerprint is proud to realize the vision for its customers and nurture artists of the future.
