Radiographic testing is a non-destructive testing procedure that uses X-rays to generate comprehensive radiograph images used for inspections and quality control. This testing method relies on quality X-ray film designed to meet the applications. At FUJIFILM NDT, we have the solutions you need with an extensive lineup of products manufactured to precision standards.
Fujifilm industrial x-ray film is designed for consistent high-quality non-destructive testing and features revolutionary new film technology. The combination of the latest in emulsion-making science and computerized manufacturing processes assure consistent batch-to-batch performance, optimum image quality and compatibility with all NDT chemistries and current brand tank /automatic processing conditions.
The Fujifilm family of films incorporate unique speed, and grain technologies thus permitting their use over a wide range of applications with consistent high quality regardless of the material examined and the source of radiation employed.
XD film provides excellent image quality coupled with high product stability for NDT radiographic inspections in all industry segments.
Film Preparation
High Film Durability
Newly developed surface characteristics of the XD film series greatly improve susceptibility to film scratching and handling artifacts compared to general x-ray films.
Testing method
- Apply load of 200~400g to film surface using a needle with a diameter of 3mm.
- Expose and develop the film to achieve density 2.0, and measure the minimum load value at which sensitization occurs.
Testing Condition
- Exposure: X-ray 200kV
- Processing: Manual; 20°c 5minutes
Exposure
High Film Speed
XD film speeds are comparable to other industrial films within the same classification category providing users consistent speed/density without drastic calculation changes. XD emulsion technology represents FUJIFILM'S best speed performance to date. Its batch to batch speed consistency is unparalleled compared to other films.
Development
Stable Density Achievement
Inspection personnel will experience very constant density performance even as chemicals become exhausted, yielding longer chemistry life than when developing other films.
Image Check
Outstanding Image Quality
XD emulsion advancements and special grain technology provide excellent image quality with pleasing color gradient, which give less eye fatigue for higher production and easier defect recognition during evaluation process.
- Corrosion & Erosion of Oil and Gas pipes
- Pipe Welds
- Turbine Blades for Power Generation
An ultra-fine grain, high contrast ASTM Class I film having excellent sharpness and high discrimination characteristics. It is suitable for use with any low atomic number material where fine image detail is imperative. Its ultra-fine grain makes it useful in high-energy, low subject contrast applications where high curie isotopes or high output X-ray machines permit its use. Wide exposure latitude has been demonstrated in high subject contrast applications. IX50XD is generally used with lead screens.

- Turbine Blades for Power Generation
An extremely fine grain, high contrast ASTM Class I film suitable for detection of minute defects. It is applicable to the inspection of low atomic number materials with low kilovoltage X-ray sources as well as inspection of higher atomic number materials with high kilovoltage X-ray or gamma-ray sources. Wide exposure latitude has been demonstrated in high subject contrast applications. IX80XD is generally used with lead screens.

A very fine grain, high contrast ASTM Class II film suitable for the inspection of light metals with low activity radiation sources and for inspection of thick, higher density specimens with high kilovoltage X-ray or gamma ray sources. Wide exposure latitude has been demonstrated in high contrast subject applications. Although IX100XD is generally used in direct exposure techniques or with lead screens, it is suitable for use with fluorescent or fluorometallic screens.
