The installation of the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight at Bradford Royal Infirmary has significantly enhanced the capabilities in both the TP prostate biopsy room and theatre practice. The Trust was in need of a versatile system to support multiple and specialised uses, and the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight has succeeded across multiple departments’ needs.
Initially purchased for TP biopsies, the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight quickly proved its capabilities for Robotic Surgery, thanks to Fujifilm's range of advanced robotic probes, and its compatibility with Bradfords da Vinci Robot, enabling robotic-assisted procedures and partial nephrectomies. Meaning, scans can be conducted and then immediately followed by surgery, by seamlessly connecting the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight to the robot using its intraoperative probe. This integration provides the surgeon with real-time updates on burn-marking regions, which is particularly important when removing renal tumours while preserving as much of the kidney as possible. DeepInsight is the first integrated AI solution for image quality inbuilt into the machine. It encompasses five essential elements: accuracy, reproducibility, visibility, efficiency and utilisation of AI. Together, these components aim to achieve optimal ultrasound imaging.
Fujifilm Healthcare UK has been supporting the specific demands of Bradford Royal Infirmary for several years. The hospital has found it beneficial that Fujifilm Healthcare’s solutions bridge gaps within the Trust, such as allowing intraoperative and transperineal work to happen at the same time. Previously, Bradford Royal Infirmary purchased the ARIETTA™ 70, a system which the hospital still uses today due to its reliability and image quality.
“We’ve always had a good relationship with Simon Jarvis (Deputy Business Unit Manager– Ultrasound), he’s always available to visit site and deliver exactly what we need as a trust.” - James Chan, Clinical Specialist Sonographer, Bradford Royal Infirmary.
Within the Ultrasound department, the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight is highly popular for use for prostate biopsies due to its design making it suitable for both standard and operative work. Recently, it has also been used to support Women’s Health through HyCoSy procedures, involving contrast imaging and general medical gynaecology. Alongside these specialities the machine has been put through its paces within other areas of the hospital including Radiology proving its flexibility and adaptability across all areas.
“The ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight is a highly used machine and is highly sought after, to the point where we're trying to pull it in all directions sometimes!” - Karen Lomas, Principal Superintendent Radiographer for Ultrasound, Bradford Royal Infirmary
Dr Harry Bardgett, Consultant Radiologist added; “We needed a system for multiple uses and multiple specialised uses, so this was not an everyday working machine. We needed a machine for HyCoSy, Interoperative Robotic Work, Transperineal, and targeted biopsies.”
Harry continued; “The system was originally for Sonographers and Trainee Radiographers, so we needed a system with good diagnostics work. The ARIETTA™ 850 has been a specialist unit as well as a workhorse diagnostic unit. Although other providers can fill the gaps that we needed, there isn’t actually at the moment one supplier who can do the sort of interoperative work, transparineal work, and be a good diagnostic solution. The solution has been fantastic and perfectly suited our needs.”
Utilising our extensive range of probes and the transferable skills of the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight, has allowed the Bradford Royal Infirmary team to innovate in a number of ways including sustainability in regard to reusable guides.
Overall, the cross-service capabilities of the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight provides a variety of solutions for departments across the Trust. We are delighted how the unique design is of the ARIETTA™ 850 DeepInsight has been supporting the needs beyond their initial plan of usage within the TP prostate biopsy room.
