An example : Toward carbon neutrality*1 in the manufacturing of endoscopy systems with solar, AI, IoT

  • *1 Zero CO2 emissions from manufacturing (Scope 1 and 2)

In FY2022, the building where endoscopy systems are assembled achieved carbon neutrality*2 through the installation of solar panels, energy-saving practices, the 3Rs (reduce, reuse, and recycle), and the use of Renewable Energy Certificates (certificates for the environmental value of purchased electricity from renewable energy sources). Certificates account for about 70% of renewable energy at N-1 building in FY2022, but the contribution of the certificates will be reduced over time.

  • *2 Zero CO2 emissions from manufacturing (Scope 1 and 2).

The N-1 building of the Sano Site started operating in 2019

The site is also introducing a “smart factory” system that boosts production efficiency through the use of AI and IoT technologies. Some processes that once required manual labor have been automated, helping to reduce operating time, which also reduces power consumption.

Robots are doing the work.

  • * Marketing and distribution of endoscopy systems is limited to countries where applicable regulatory clearance or approval has been obtained.
