An example : Solar power contributes electricity needed to produce materials for semiconductor manufacturing

Semiconductors are essential components of smartphones, electric vehicles and electronic devices of all kinds, and their importance continues to grow. At its manufacturing site in Mesa, Arizona, FUJIFILM Electronic Materials U.S.A., Inc. has installed solar panel installation and implemented water conservation procedures.

Solar panels have been installed on covered parking lots at the facility. The installation which is scheduled to go into operation in August 2023, is expected to generate approximately 15% of the facility’s overall power requirements. The parking lots also have EV charging stations, which are available to employees.

With the plant’s expansion, air-cooled chillers were installed in place of water-cooled chillers*1, reducing on-site water use by approximately 4 million gallons (15 million liters) since 2021.

Aligned with its overall climate strategy in Mesa city, FUJIFILM Electronic Materials U.S.A., Inc. will pursue more activities to reduce carbon emissions.
