FUJIFILM Business Innovation Launches A3 Colour Remanufactured Multifunction Printers with 84% Parts Reuse Rate (by weight)

November 20, 2024

SINGAPORE, November 20, 2024 -- FUJIFILM Business Innovation Asia Pacific announces the launch of two A3 colour remanufactured digital multifunction printers*1: the ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R. These printers, part of ApeosPort-VII C series, offer the guaranteed quality as brand-new products, and reduce environment impact with their parts reuse rate of up to 84%*2 by weight. Sales will commence from November 21 in Asia Pacific region*3.

The design of ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R are developed based on the principle that collected products are not waste. Instead, they are seen as valuable resources that can be reused in other meaningful ways.

Guaranteed quality as brand new products:

ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R are manufactured from collected machines. Upon collection from customers, a systematic assessment is undertaken to classify them as either “reuse” or “recycling” based on their condition. Collected machines suitable for reuse will then be transported to the production facility. Once there, they will be disassembled to a component level. Careful inspection and diagnosis are conducted to identify the parts that were suitable for reuse. Parts that cannot be reused are sorted according to the material they are made of, and then passed to the company’s recycling partners. Reusable parts will be cleaned and repaired before being sent for reassembly. Each remanufactured printer undergoes the same rigorous inspection process as newly built printers, to ensure they meet the same quality and reliability standards.

Remanufacured with Reduced Environmental impact in mind:

The remanufactured printers have a significantly reduced environmental impact, achieving an 84%*2 parts reuse rate by weight, and cutting lifecycle emissions by 53%*4 compared to newly built printers*5. For example, FUJIFILM Business Innovation has implemented the use of blast technology*6 to remove yellowing from used exterior plastic covers, with the objective of maximising the potential of the components to be reused. This is in line with the company’s belief for resource circulation and taking climate action.

Remanufactured with Customer experience in mind:

ApeosPort-VII C5573 R and C3373 R are also designed to enhance user experience with features such as a large 10.1-inch operation panel with tilt functionality, supporting intuitive tap and swipe operations akin to smartphones, a center tray notification light*7, and a gently closing paper tray.

Main features of ApeosPort-VII C5573 R / C3373 R:

  • Printing Speed: ApeosPort-VII C5573 R prints at 55 pages per minute, and ApeosPort-VII C3373 R prints at 35 pages per minute, in both colour and monochrome (A4 LEF).
  • Duplex Automatic Document Feeder: Scans both sides simultaneously at high-speed of 154 pages per minute.
  • Super EA-Eco Toner: Lowers the fusing temperature by approximately 10℃ than EA-Eco toner, reducing power consumption, and achieves high-resolution output of 1200 x 2400 dpi by the smallest toner particle sizes in the industry.
  • Equipped Smart WelcomEyes: Sensor detects users, automatically waking the device from sleep mode, enhancing energy efficiency and ease of use.
  • Instant Heating IH-Fuser*8 Technology: Provides a rapid recovery time of 5 seconds or less from sleep mode. Offers both low power consumption in sleep mode and the convenience of being ready to use when desired.
  • Enhanced Operation Panel*9: A 10.1-inch panel with tilt function supports smartphone-like tap and swipe operations, enabling more agility.
  • Notification Light: Newly*9 installed- in the center tray to remind users to collect printed documents.
  • Retractable Tray: Newly*9 fitted retractable tray that closes automatically with a gentle touch.
  • Security Features: Includes TLS 1.3 compatibility and network communications encryption.

Resource Circulation Initiatives

Since 1995, FUJIFILM Business Innovation has actively implemented a comprehensive company-wide recycling policy and resource circulation system. This initiative encompasses the entire product lifecycle, from product planning, development to manufacturing and disposal. As a result, the company has successfully reused components collected from customers through reuse/recycle technologies, turning them back into valuable resources.

In May 2024, the company established a new target to further enhance their resource circulation efforts, aiming to reduce their natural resource input ratio*10 to 60% or less by FY2030. To achieve this goal, FUJIFILM Business Innovation will continue to expand and enhance the reuse of multifunction printers, toner cartridges, spare parts, and more, and increasing the utilisation of recycled materials, including recycled plastic and steel.

Through ongoing commitments of these initiatives, FUJIFILM Business Innovation is dedicated to fostering a circular society, guided by the policy of "Promoting Resource Circulation Toward Zero Waste."
