TOKYO, May 16, 2024 – FUJIFILM Corporation announces the launch of the "FUJINON Lens XF16-50mmF2.8 -4.8 R LM WR" (XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR) from June, 2024. The lens is a new lineup of the "XF Lens" interchangeable lens lineup for the mirrorless digital camera "X Series" that offers outstanding image quality and compact size and weight thanks to its unique color reproduction technology.
The XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR is a standard zoom lens with a focal length range from 16mm (equivalent to 24mm in 35mm format) wide angle to 50mm (equivalent to 76mm in 35mm format) medium telephoto. It combines the high resolution performance of the fifth-generation back-illuminated 40.2 megapixel “X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR”*1 sensor of the "X series" across the entire zoom range with a weight of approximately 240g, the lightest*2 zoom lens of the "XF lens". In addition, the lens features high-speed, high-precision AF, a maximum magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to a maximum magnification of 0.45x in the 35mm format), dustproof, drip-proof, and low temperature resistant configuration to-10°C, making it suitable for use in a variety of situations.
The XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR covers a versatile focal length range, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from wide-angle photography of travel scenery and architecture to portrait photography utilizing its medium telephoto range. In addition to its high-resolution performance, the lens's 35mm format equivalent half-macro equivalent*3 close-up performance makes it a versatile tool for capturing various everyday subjects like food, crafts, and plants. The lens can be conveniently attached to the camera at all times, effectively replacing the need for multiple lenses.
Alongside the launch of the XF16-50mmF2.8-4.8 R LM WR, Fujifilm plans to introduce lens kits with the FUJIFILM X-T50, FUJIFILM X-T5, and FUJIFILM X-S20, which have in-body image stabilization to maximize the lens's performance.

- The lens construction consists of 11 elements in nine groups, including three aspherical lens elements and three ED lens elements. This lens suppresses magnification chromatic aberration and axial chromatic aberration and delivers high resolution performance throughout the entire zoom range.
- It covers a versatile focal range from a wide-angle 16mm (equivalent to 24mm on a 35mm film camera), which is useful for landscape and group shots, to a medium telephoto 50mm (equivalent to 76mm on a 35mm film camera), which is useful for portrait photography.
- Maximum magnification of 0.3x at the telephoto end (equivalent to a maximum magnification of 0.45x in 35mm format). The minimum focusing distance is 24cm across the entire zoom range, allowing the photographer to get as close as 15cm from the tip of the lens.
- The optimum arrangement of the lenses has achieved the lightest weight among the "XF Lens" zoom lenses at approximately 240g, while maintaining high resolution. This lightweight design, which can be carried easily, significantly improves the convenience of the highly versatile standard zoom lens.
- The constant-length configuration, in which the lens does not extend when zooming, allows for more comfortable zooming operation.
- The inner focus system uses a linear motor to drive the compact and lightweight focus lens group. The compact size of the focus lens group enables a high-speed, high-precision AF of approximately 0.015 seconds*4, ensuring that the decisive moment is never missed.
*4 Based on CIPA guidelines, internal measurement method. With FUJIFILM X-T4 mirrorless digital camera attached. AF speed at wide-angle end when phase detection AF is used and High Performance Mode is ON.
- The lens barrel is sealed in 13 places to make it dustproof, drip-proof, and resistant to temperatures as low as -10℃. It can be used safely in a wide range of shooting situations, from shooting in light rain or dusty environments to shooting landscapes such as snow fields and seashores.
