Division of Tuberculosis Acquires 16 Portable X-ray Units for Hospitals and Provincial Offices of Disease Prevention and Control to Streghten Tuberculosis Detection and Reduce Severity and Mortality

Bangkok, 12 January 2024 — The Division of Tuberculosis, the Department of Disease Control, led by Dr. Phalin Kamolwat, Physician – Advisory Level, Department of Disease Control, and Ms.Chutima Siripanumas, Medical Physician, Professional Level, Mrs. Prirya Rientrirat, Phamacist Division of Tuberculosis, received 16 “FDR Xair” ultra-portable digital x-ray units from Fujifilm to be used across 11 hospitals and Provincial Offices of Disease Prevention and Control. Funded by the Global Fund, these acquired portable x-ray units will be used to proactively screen high-risk groups for tuberculosis in the hospitals and Offices of Disease Prevention and Control.

The expanded and easily accessible screening initiative enables individuals with limited access such as patients in slums, rural areas, senior homes, diabetes clinics, and inmates to receive quality treatment. This aligns with national efforts to eradicate TB and improve the overall quality of life for all members of society. The handover ceremony was recently held at the Division of Tuberculosis, Department of Disease Control.
