FUJIFILM Corporation has announced its position as a new “Visionary Partner” to the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) for World Cancer Day 2025-2027, entering a new three-year partnership that reinforces the company’s shared commitment to reducing the global cancer burden and improving patient outcomes.
Every year, on 4th February, World Cancer Day brings together people around the world to unite in the fight against cancer. With over 35 million new cancer cases predicted by 2050, and almost half of the world’s population lacking access to the healthcare they need, Fujifilm reinforces its commitment to taking on the biggest global health challenges.
Fujifilm’s legacy in cancer care
Nearly 40% of cancer-related deaths are deemed preventable through prevention, early detection, and timely treatment, which rely on extensive screening and faster diagnosis.
Fujifilm provides people-centered care by delivering total healthcare solutions that empower healthcare professionals to detect, diagnose, and treat with greater speed and accuracy. From the provision of leading-edge cancer diagnostic services such as mammography and endoscopy; the ambition to roll out NURA health screening centers in emerging countries; and partnership with the biopharmaceutical industry to support the development and manufacturing of innovative cancer treatments, Fujifilm is seeking to address critical gaps in access, equity, and care for cancer patients.
United by Unique stories
In the first year of this new partnership, Fujifilm and UICC will celebrate the strength and resilience of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals by encouraging people to share their personal stories, building upon Fujifilm’s heritage and expertise in photography.
This partnership aims to raise awareness of the importance of ensuring that cancer prevention, early detection, and treatment services are accessible to everyone.
About 1 in 5 people develop cancer in their lifetime. Fujifilm is aiming to inspire action toward reshaping cancer care for the better and raise awareness of how this disease profoundly impacts the entire population.
Yoshiki Kimura, President and Managing Director, FUJIFILM Europe GmbH said:
“Every story has the power to inspire understanding and bring hope. At Fujifilm, we believe that everyone, no matter where they live, should have access to leading medical technology that enable earlier cancer detection, and timely life-saving treatment. We are committed to bringing more hope, resilience, and smiles to the world in the face of this challenging disease. We are united by the unique nature of these stories and journeys.”
Dr Cary Adams, CEO of the Union for International Cancer Control said:
“We’re delighted to welcome Fujifilm as a Visionary Partner of World Cancer Day and to collaborate with an organisation that shares our commitment to supporting people affected by cancer worldwide. At UICC, we believe in the power of compassion and uniting individuals through their unique stories. Cancer turns lives upside down, but together, we can inspire hope and strengthen the bonds that help people navigate their journey.”
