COMFOGUARD-UV

Block ultraviolet light with less-colored material

[image] Conventional Ultraviolet Absorber and Comfoguard UV at work comparison

The ultraviolet light that reaches the ground through the ozone layer is in the range between 280nm and 400nm. The range from 280nm to 320nm is called UVB, and the range from 320nm to 400nm is called UVA. Within UVA, FujiFilm identifies the ultraviolet light from 370nm to 400nm as "Deep UVA".

This ultraviolet light causes sunburn and wrinkle in the skin, expediting skin aging by degrading the elasticity. In particular, Deep UVA has further impact, as it reaches deep inside the human skin.

The conventional ultraviolet absorber has a strong colored effect when covering the cut-off range up to long wavelengths. The range that can be blocked comparatively with less-colored material is mainly from 280nm to 370nm. However, COMFOGUARD-UV from FujiFilm successfully blocks all the ultraviolet light including the range from 370nm to 400nm, and also realizes low color level of the material at the same time.

Mechanism of realizing less-colored material

When ultraviolet light is cut off up to the maximum value of 400nm by using the conventional ultraviolet absorber, much visible light is also block unintentionally, increasing the degree of color.

However, COMFOGUARO-UV can achieve the required blocking performance without cutting off visible light unnecessarily, therefore maintaining a lower degree of color than the conventional method while cutting radiation up to 400nm.
