TOKYO, May 16, 2024 – FUJIFILM Corporation announce the launch of the “FUJIFILM X-T50” (X-T50) worldwide in June and onward. The X-T50, the latest model in the X series, offers outstanding image quality, compact and lightweight body.
The X-T50 is a versatile and compact camera with a lightweight body weighing approximately 438g*1 and equipped with the back-illuminated 40.2 megapixel “X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR”*2 sensor, the “X-Processor 5” high-speed image processing engine, and a 5-axis, maximum 7.0-stop*3 in-body image stabilization function. It delivers high mobility, high image quality, and high performance, and can be used for still image shooting in a wide range of situations.
The camera is equipped for the first time with the Film Simulation dial which allows users to effortlessly switch between “Film Simulation” modes to enjoy various color tone expressions as if they were changing photographic film. In addition, the camera boasts a rounded design that not only ensures a comfortable grip but also contributes to its compact size.
The X-T50’s features and the Film Simulation dial will enhance the joy of photography.
- The fifth generation of the X series is equipped with the back-illuminated 40.2 megapixel “X-Trans™ CMOS 5 HR” sensor. The latest image processing algorithms deliver high resolution while maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio.
- Because the improved pixel structure allows more light to be captured efficiently, ISO 125, which was the extended sensitivity in the previous model*4 can be used as the normal sensitivity. In addition, the electronic shutter can be set to a shutter speed of 1/180000 sec. at the fastest, achieving highly precise control of exposure time. This allows shooting with a wide range of scenes using a large-aperture lens with a wide aperture opening.
- The X-T50 features an AI-based subject detection AF, developed using deep learning technology to detect animals, birds, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, airplanes, trains, insects, and drones*5. In addition, the camera incorporates an AF prediction algorithm that surpasses the capabilities of previous models. This results in a more comfortable shooting experience for users.
- The “Film Simulation” function, which can express a variety of color tones, offers 20 types, including “REALA ACE”, which combines faithful color reproduction and crisp tonal gradations. Users can enjoy a wide variety of color expression according to the subject and scene.
- To maximize the high pixel count of approximately 40.2 megapixels,*6 the camera is equipped with a digital teleconverter function. Users can magnify their images by 1.4x and 2x.
- The X-T50 is equipped with a 5-axis in-body image stabilization function with a maximum of 7.0 stops yet has a compact and lightweight body weighing only 438g. While maintaining the mobility that has been a feature of previous models, the X-T50 can be handheld comfortably even in low light conditions, such as night scenes, expanding the possibilities of photography fields.
- The X-T50 is capable of shooting in 6.2K/30P resolution. It features a tracking AF function during video recording, ensuring high-quality and smooth footage.
- The X-T50 offers AUTO mode, that automatically detects the scene and selects the optimal shooting settings, simply by operating the AUTO mode switching lever on the top surface of the body. The X-T50’s subject detection and tracking capabilities ensures the subject remains focused, making it easier to capture high-quality still and moving images.
- The X-T50 features a new rounded body design. The new grip shape fits comfortably in the hand while maintaining a compact size for high holding performance.
- The new Film Simulation dial is conveniently placed on the left shoulder of the top face. Users can easily switch between a total of 20 Film Simulation modes according to the subjects and scenes, making it easier to enjoy a variety of color tones in both still and moving images.
- A pop-up flash integrated with the viewfinder is mounted on the top surface. It automatically controls the amount of light and is effective in dark scenes and backlit portrait photography.
- The X-T50 features a rear LCD monitor with a 1.84 million-dot tilt structure, as seen in previous models. In addition, the shape of the grip and the layout of the buttons on the back of the camera have been fine-tuned for more comfortable shooting of both still and moving images.
