Fujifilm launches FUJINON BINOCULAR TECHNO-STABI TS-L 1640 / FUJINON BINOCULAR TECHNO-STABI TS-L 2040

High-magnification image-stabilized binoculars equipped with ED lenses, allowing for brighter and clearer observation of distant objects.

TOKYO, January 16, 2025 – FUJIFILM Corporation announces the global launch of the latest model of the image-stabilized binocular “FUJINON BINOCULAR TECHNO-STABI TS-L 1640” (TS-L 1640) / “FUJINON BINOCULAR TECHNO-STABI TS-L 2040” (TS-L 2040).

The TS-L 1640 and the TS-L 2040 have the magnification ratios of 16x and 20x respectively, offering the highest magnification levels in the series. These binoculars feature powerful image stabilization and an advanced optical system with ED lenses, allowing for brighter and clearer observation for distant objects. Despite utilizing large 40mm objective lenses, they are compact and lightweight. This advantage makes them versatile binoculars suitable for a wide range of activities such as bird and wildlife watching, sports events, concerts, marine leisure and outdoor adventures.

The TS-L 1640 and the TS-L 2040 feature a high-quality and stylish ergonomic design to help users handle them for hours. Additionally, they have IPX7 water resistance rating and can operate continuously for up to 30 hours while image stabilization is on, which support usage under tough environments.

1. Product features

(1) Combining a powerful image stabilization system with a correction angle of ±3° and the highest magnification in the series with optical performance using ED lenses
  • Highest level of magnification in the “FUJINON TECHNO-STABI Series” with two models: 16x (TS-L 1640) and 20x (TS-L 2040). With these higher magnifications, scopes and tripods are not required, for bird watching on tidal flats and lakes from the distance, or for the detailed observation and species identification.
  • The image stabilization system with a correction angle of ±3° allows users to see athletes and performers’ faces clearly during sports events or music concerts in large venues.
  • These binoculars feature ED lenses (extra-low dispersion glass) to reduce axial chromatic aberration for long distance subject observation.  Unlike standard optical lenses, ED lenses prevent fringing around subjects with its excellent performance even for distant observations, such as swans on a lake against a snowy background.
(2) Compact, lightweight, and high-quality body design with excellent operability
  • Despite its large-diameter binoculars with 40mm objective lenses, they achieve a lightweight design at approximately 856g (TS-L 1640) and approximately 853g (TS-L 2040).
  • The design matches with the sophisticated and high-quality “X Series” mirrorless digital cameras. Carrying these binoculars alongside the camera goes well together.
  • A finely textured arc-shaped pattern at the bottom surface enhances one-handed operability with its firm grip. The overall design is smooth with minimal protrusions, making it easy to put in cases or bags.
  • Both a hand strap and a neck strap are included in the box. These accessories allow users to choose the best option for different situations. The hand strap can be attached to either the left or right side.
(3) Continuous 30-hour operation and IPX7 waterproof performance
  • The image stabilization can function continuously for 30 hours with two AAA batteries. Additionally, it features a 60-minute auto-off function for image stabilization to prevent battery drain from forgetting to turn off. The battery box is embedded on the right side, resulting in a smooth, protrusion-free design that does not interfere with handling.
  • IPX7 water resistance rating ensures binoculars remain waterproof even when submerged up to 1 meter, for 30 minutes. This allows for confident use in a wide range of outdoor settings, such as at the sea, rivers, or under bad weather conditions.
