TOKYO, July 18, 2023 – FUJIFILM Corporation (President and CEO, Representative Director: Teiichi Goto) announces that it will reorganize its Medical Systems group companies in Japan to strengthen its Medical Systems business structure. Fujifilm will reorganize its group companies in Japan involved in the Medical Systems business based on their functional roles to further strengthen each function, including business strategy, R&D, and sales and maintenance services. The reorganization is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024*1.
Details of reorganization
(1) Consolidation of business strategy and R&D functions
The functions of business strategy and R&D at FUJIFILM Healthcare Corporation (“FUJIFILM Healthcare”) will be consolidated into FUJIFILM Corporation. By integrating the Group's advanced technologies and knowledge, such as image processing and AI technologies, Fujifilm will further add value to its products and services, accelerate the speed from R&D to commercialization, and rapidly introduce products and services that meet the needs of the medical field.
(2) Consolidation of sales and maintenance service functions
The domestic sales functions of FUJIFILM Healthcare will be consolidated into FUJIFILM Medical Co., Ltd. ("FUJIFILM Medical"), a sales company in Japan for medical equipment and related products. In addition, maintenance service functions will be consolidated by integrating FUJIFILM Healthcare Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of FUJIFILM Healthcare, into FUJIFILM Medical Service Solution Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of FUJIFILM Medical. This will further enhance the Group’s ability to provide comprehensive offerings and customer support to healthcare organizations by integrating the knowledge and expertise of sales and maintenance services.
Under its medium-term management plan “VISION2023,” Fujifilm is accelerating business growth in healthcare, identifying it as one of its key business fields. In the Medical Systems business, a growth driver in healthcare, the company provides high-quality diagnostic solutions globally by placing medical IT at the core and connecting its extensive product lines, including X-ray diagnostic imaging systems and endoscopes based on the SYNAPSE medical imaging information systems, which boasts the world’s top market share. In March 2021, Fujifilm acquired the Diagnostic Imaging-related business of Hitachi, Ltd. and established FUJIFILM Healthcare Corporation as a wholly owned subsidiary of FUJIFILM Corporation. Leveraging the Group's technologies and products, Fujifilm has developed one-stop solutions to meet the needs of the medical field. In pursuit of growth through synergy creation, two manufacturing companies in Japan were integrated in October 2021 to consolidate medical device manufacturing functions, resulting in shorter production lead times and reduced costs. To maximize synergies and further accelerate business growth, Fujifilm will reorganize the group companies in Japan involved in business strategy, research and development, and sales and maintenance services, thereby further strengthening the Medical Systems business structure.
Fujifilm will expand its Medical Systems business by developing and providing higher-quality diagnostic solutions, contributing to improving the quality of medical care and maintaining and enhancing people's health.
