Ratingen, Germany, 10 August 2022 – FUJIFILM Corporation through its globally-renowned instax instant photo brand, and Undisputed, the organisation behind the development of Breaking as a culture and competition, have announced a new strategic partnership focused on supporting the growth of Breaking, and it’s athletes, as the sport ramps up its profile towards inclusion at Paris 2024.
Emerging from the streets of the Bronx, New York in the 1970s, Breaking, also known as breakdancing, sees competitors, known as b-boys, b-girls and crews, blend cutting-edge urban dance with remarkable athleticism. This unique partnership will support the growth of Breaking culture, community and competition, through a series of activations and content, enhanced by instax’s unique ability to capture life’s unique moments in the form of photo prints, and convey emotions that go with them.
FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters series: the best of the best of Breaking talent
Headlining this partnership is the creation of the new FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters, a series of global gold ribbon events which sees the champions of the most prestigious Breaking competitions compete together in a world series Masters championship.
Breakers from all over the world will bring their best moves and unique styles to the arena, and audiences will witness the most incredible action as competitors go head-to-head all captured by the power of instax instant photography, creating truly one-of-a-kind photos with the unique feel of a physical print.
Paris 2024 contenders, that include current world and continental Breaking champions, will assemble at the following FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters series events:
- London, United Kingdom: 24 June 2022
- Heerlen, Netherlands: 14 August 2022
- Los Angeles, United States: 11 December 2022
- Tokyo, Japan: March 2023
A competition to giveaway tickets to August’s FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters in Heerlen, Netherlands is already underway, with further FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters series in planning for 2023.
New ‘Power Moves’ and ‘Freeze’ movies show-off the best of Breaking and instax
Launching in August, the partnership will also be brought to life in two new movies shot by Fujifilm, featuring the world's top breakers who competed at the inaugaral FUJIFILM instax Undisputed Masters event in June 2022.
The first movie, ‘Power Moves’, named after explosive Breaking moves such as Windmills and Air-Flares, showcases capturing breakers' dynamic movements with smartphones and make instax prints of the best Breaking moments via ‘Video Print’ on the recently launched instax mini Link 2 smartphone printer.
The second movie, ‘Freeze’, shows the fun of enjoying a crticial element of Breaking, the freeze moment when the dancing stops in the middle of a dance. The movie conveys the unique appeal of the instax instant photography through the enjoyment of capturing the decisive moments of "motion" and "stillness" of Breaking, with images shot and printed on the FUJIFILM instax mini 40.
