Used products are
valuable resources,
not waste
Remanufactured machines will provide maximum value with a amount of natural resources
Contributing to the reduction of environmental impact while delivering the same quality as new products
In 1995, we established Resource circulation system to promote the circulation of resources.
Remanufactured machines are made with utilizing the suitable parts of the machines collected from our customers. These parts were prepared for reuse with our unique technology.
Loop to New
FUJIFILM Business Innovation provides remanufactured machines that circulate resources to create new products. "Loop to New" embodies the values of these remanufactured machines and commitment to weave resource circulation into future generations.
What is the Resource Circulation System?

FUJIFILM Business Innovation
Resource Circulation SystemStarted in 1995, the system covers the entire product life cycle from product planning, development, manufacturing stages to disposal. covers the entire product life cycle from the product planning / development / manufacturing stages to disposal.
Since then, we have been reusing the best suitable parts utilized from the machines we collected from customers with our unique technology to promote the resource circulation. We will keep expanding and improving the reuse of multifunction printers, toner cartridges, spare parts and more, as well as the use of recycled materials such as recycled plastic and recycled steel.

Promotion of Resource Circulation
Using reused parts for remanufactured machine to reduce natural resource input by 84%*1 compared to newly built machine
Address Climate Change
CO2 emissions are reduced to 56%*2 as compared to newly built machines throughout their entire product lifecycle (procurement, manufacturing, transportation, use, and disposal), helping to promote resource recycling and address climate change
Same manufacturing process and maintenance service as newly built machines
Parts are selected from the machines collected from our customers based on our strict criteria. The machines are manufactured through the same processes and based on the same quality standards as newly built machines, and the same level of maintenance support is provided to customers.
Production Process of Remanufactured machines
Message from the management: the significance of our remanufacturing initiatives
1. Production Process of Remanufactured machines
The production process of remanufactured machines can be divided into a "Reuse and Recycling Process " and a "Manufacturing Process ", and we guarantee quality and reliability as "new product".
Reuse and Recycling Process
We determine whether or not the collected machines from customers can be reused by checking respective machine's usage history based on strict criteria.
Worn-out parts are to be replaced with new parts while parts that can be reused are to be disassembled and cleaned.
Manufacturing Process
Machines are reassembled using the same manufacturing processes and inspection standards as newly built machines.
Inspection criteria (for example, printing and scanning image quality) for remanufactured products are the same as newly built machines.
2. The technology behind remanufactured machines
Click the illustration of the multifunction printer to see detailed information on our technology behind remanufactured machines.
3. Contributing to "Promote recycling of resources" and "Address Climate Change" through remanufactured machines
We utilize the best limited resources to minimize "Natural resource input ratio" and "CO2 emissions throughout the product lifecycle".

Reuse parts selection technology
- Machines collected from customers are screened for reuse at local warehouses across the region .
- The remaining life of each part of collected machines is determined by referring to approximately 200 check items in the categories of usage history information, market maintenance history of respective machine, and reliability evaluation data.
- Only screened machine parts are loaded into the remanufactured machine production line together with newly procured parts.
In 2019
FUJIFILM Business Innovation received the Ministry of Economy of Japan Government, Trade and Industry's Director-General of the Industrial Technology and Environment Bureau Award for Resource Circulation Technology System for increasing the number of parts reused through this unique technology
Blast technology
- Criteria is set to screen the plastic covers to be reused or not. Covers within the criteria will be cleaned and to be reused.
- Covers do not meet the criteria will still be reused by the blasting technology to remove the yellowing area. The reuse rate of the exterior cover parts could be increased from about 50% before the technology was introduced to around 80%. (internal research)

Significance of promoting resource circulation
-
At FUJIFILM Business Innovation, we prioritize two areas : "Address climate change" and "Promote recycling of resources" within Fujifilm Group's CSR plan "Sustainable Value Plan (SVP) 2030“.
In 1995, ahead of the industry, we established a company-wide recycling policy, "Promoting Resource Circulation Toward Zero Waste".
According to this policy, we have been continuously developing and producing remanufactured products since 1995, based on the concept that “used products are valuable resources, not waste”.
We aim to contribute to the transition to a circular economy by establishing a new target to achieve the rate of natural resource input to 60% or less by the fiscal year 2030. -
Significance of selling remanufactured machines
-
Addressing environmental challenges has become a fundamental requirement for companies to conduct their business.
We have been committed to promoting the sale of remanufactured machines with the aim of contributing to our customers' sustainability initiatives and supporting their green procurement initiatives. However, it is still a fact that the recognition of remanufactured products remains low within Japan.
The effects of climate change are becoming increasingly evident in our daily lives. These changes underscore the importance of actively tackling the reduction of environmental impact not only at the individual company level, but across society as a whole.
By promoting the use of our remanufactured products, we enable social contributions and enhance the competitive advantage of our customers.
We are committed to continuing our efforts with aspiration. -
Significance of producing remanufactured machines
-
Our remanufactured products achieve a parts reuse rate of up to 84% by weight and at the same time we guarantee the quality as new product.
We extract parts from the machines collected from customers and by utilizing our unique reuse and recycle technologies to reuse them as parts for remanufactured product.
Over the past 30 years, we have engaged in persistent trial and error to deliver remanufactured machines as brand new products.
Although 'reuse' and 'recycle' are often used interchangeably, 'reuse' has the significant advantage of a lower environmental impact compared to 'recycling', which requires energy-intensive processes such as crushing and melting.
Considering these differences, our remanufactured products promote resource circulation and can reduce CO2 emissions by 56% compared to newly built machines.
Reuse, yet brand new. This is one of the unique selling points of the remanufactured machines we offer to our customers. -
Significance of expanding the role of remanufactured machines globally
-
FUJIFILM Business Innovation also markets remanufactured products in the Asia-Pacific region.
We collect machines from customers in both Japan and the Asia-Pacific region to promote resource circulation across the region. These machines are collected and remanufactured within the same region and sold back to customers as new products.
With global environmental regulations becoming more stringent, awareness of material issues such as overconsumption of resources, reduction of plastic waste, and decarbonization is rising not only in Europe and North America but also in the Asian region.
Through providing remanufactured products, we aim to support our global customers' environmental initiatives by efficiently utilizing resources, reducing waste, and lowering CO2 emissions. We strive to minimize environmental impact in collaboration with our customers and contribute positively to their respective local communities. -
