Dear Customers,

Thank you very much for your continued use of our products.

Microsoft has announced that it will introduce a new [Windows Protected Print Mode] feature in Windows 11 version 24H2 or later and Windows Server 2025. Customers using earlier versions may also be automatically updated through Windows update, etc.

If you enable this function, which is disabled by default, you will have increased expectancy to avoid the vulnerabilities associated with conventional printer drivers and improve security, but it will have a significant impact on the printer drivers, fax drivers and virtual drivers (hereafter simply referred to as ‘printer drivers’) that have already been installed.

Specifically, if this function is enabled, all the printer drivers that we have traditionally provided will be automatically deleted by the OS and will no longer be usable.

Please enable or disable the [Windows Protected Printing Mode] feature after understanding the above.

Event that Occurs when [Windows Protected Print Mode] Feature Is Enabled

When the [Windows Protected Print Mode] feature is enabled, the following occurs:

  • New printer driver installation, port creation, and print queue creation will no longer be allowed.
  • If you have already installed our printer driver, that printer driver, the print queue created for that printer, and the printer settings will also be deleted.
If an installed printer or its print queue is deleted as a result of enabling this feature once, the deleted printer driver and print queue will remain deleted even if this feature is disabled again. To use the deleted printer again, you will need to install and configure the printer driver again after disabling this feature.

Conditions for Occurrence

Both of the following conditions must be met:

  • Windows 11 version 24H2 or later and Windows Server 2025
  • Enable the [Windows protected printing mode] feature (the default setting is disabled).
  • * This does not occur in Windows 11 version earlier than 24H2, nor on Windows 10.
