Forty years ago, Fujifilm established itself in Tilburg. The company started with the production of photo paper but became best known for its film rolls. In the meantime they no longer make film rolls in Tilburg, but Fujifilm is still developing rapidly. By using its accumulated knowledge, the company developed new products and managed to expand into new markets.
Albert van Maren, President of FUJIFILM Manufacturing Europe B.V.: "I am very proud to have reached this milestone. A lot has happened in 40 years and we have continuously adapted to the circumstances as a company. We have had to close factories, but we have also been able to open new ones. Last year, we built a completely new life science plant in the old photo film factory. This symbolises the strength of our company and the commitment of our people. We can be proud of that."
Fujifilm Tilburg currently makes photo paper, offset plates for the graphics industry, membranes for gas and water purification and cell culture media for the biopharmaceutical industry. The company employs around 700 people.
Fujifilm is part of a large multinational, but has felt involved with the local Tilburg community from the start. An employee volunteering program has been running for years, whereby employees can do their bit for charity. Fujifilm has also been a sponsor of the Huis ter Heide nature reserve for years, as well as well-known Tilburg events such as the Tilburg Ten Miles.
