Tilburg, November 2024 - Fujifilm in Tilburg will stop developing, manufacturing, and selling Ion Exchange and Gas Separation Membranes. Around 80 employees are expected to be made redundant as a result.
Executive Vice President Peter Struik: ‘The decision was taken after a period of intensive work on membrane development and production. This ultimately did not result in significant market share, leaving profitability significantly behind.’
The decision to exit is in line with Fujifilm's strategy to strengthen its business portfolio in Healthcare and Semi-Conductor Materials in particular and focus on profitability and return on investment.
President Albert van Maren: ‘Today we had to inform our employees about the discontinuation of membrane business and the associated reorganisation. We will work to ensure a smooth phase-out for our customers. Employees who become redundant due to this reorganisation we will redeploy as much as possible and otherwise guide them from job to job.’
Adaptability
Albert van Maren: ‘Fujifilm in Tilburg is constantly adapting to changing circumstances. We continue to focus on maintaining a healthy base for future growth.’ Its expertise in manufacturing, convenient location and focus on sustainability offer the company opportunities. In May, the Circular Manufacturing Center was opened where Toner Cartridges are refurbished. An activity that fits well with Fujifilm's Corporate Social Responsibility ambition. The CMC is expected to expand further in the future. As will the Life Science manufacturing activities launched in 2022.
